It's Been Awhile

So Meredith is almost 8 months old and I have to say this has been the best time of my life. I love being a mom, and a wife. It's also so great that I get to spend time with Meredith at home. I teach dance one night a week and Sean watches Meredith. He comes with me there, mostly because I need to ride in the HOV lane to get there on time, but it's nice that Meredith and Sean are there with me. They just play while I teach for an hour and half and then we grab dinner and head home. Meredith and I are taking a couple classes together too. On Tuesdays we go to Nurturing Pathways which is a music, movement, massage class for mommy and babies. It is so much fun and one of the moms lives near us so I think I found a new playmate for Meredith, Yippee!!! On Fridays we do Water Babies. Meredith floats on her back and tummy, she also goes under water. I really like the class but it is a little bit expensive so I don't know if we will do it again. On Thursdays we like to go to the movies at Lincoln tower in Bellevue. They do Mommy and me movie showings. This has been a life saver because I don't think I would have seen New Moon or The Lovely Bones otherwise. I can't believe how big Meredith has gotten but she is still itty bitty for her age. She weighs no more the 16 lbs and is 28 in long. She is such a cuddle monkey too. She loves to hug Sean and I and she reaches for us if someone else is holding her. She is such a talker and says mama and dada sometimes, although I don't think she associates them with us yet. She is also a good eater, sometimes.. She like pears, apples, bananas, prunes, sweet potatoes, carrotes, squash and chicken. We are trying to expand to Mangos, apricots, spinach and others. I still can't get her to like peas, I keep trying though. I think she might crawl soon, she is on here knees and rocking. It is super cute. Right now my goal is to find a good convertible care seat for Meredith. I really like the Britax Advocate Click and Safe but it is super expensive, but I think it's worth it. Any suggestions on a good car seat please let me know. There are some products that have been wonderful for the past eight months here are my favorites.

Swaddlers (Meredith would only sleep in these for 6months now she sleeps in sleep sacks)

A heart beat or sound soother ( We still use this)
Sophie the Giraffe

Taggies

Born Free Sippy Cups (she will not take a bottle but she will take this sippy cup, good for Sundays that I sing at church)

Ergo Baby Carrier

Bumbo Seat
My Brest Friend ( this is the best nursing pillow EVER!!!!!! way better then the boppy. If you are nursing please try this pillow and tell your friends about it. It straps around you so that there is no space between your belly and the pillow, which I had problems with when it came to the boppy. Also, Meredith sometimes likes me to stand and sway while I nurse her and this super dupper helps with that, it take some of the weight off of my arms. TRY IT it is AWSOME!)

I'm sure there are other things but I can't think of them now. I just wish I knew all these things back before Meredith was born so that I could have used all this stuff right away. But I guess every mom has preferences and goes through the same thing right? I'm sure everything will change when I have another baby, I wonder when that will be? Well all for now hopefully it won't be another 6 months before I update again. I promise I'll try. Here are some fun pics.

Maternity Clothes & Moby Wrap

WTF. Okay so all throughout my pregnancy I wanted super cute maternity clothes and I remembered that Ann Taylor Loft sold maternity clothes. Well the second I started to show I went there and they stoped selling them. BUMMER. But I got over it. oh well. So I was looking for a cute dress to wear for Meredith's baptisim in a few weeks and I checked out Ann Taylor Loft and guess what? They are selling maternity clothes again. What is up with that?? I was miffed. Maybe next pregnancy eh?

I also wanted to say a little but about baby carriers. I got so many carriers for my baby shower and I was very excited. I got a sling, a peanut sling, a front to back carrier and a baby bjorn. Well I ended up returning all of them excepte the peanut sling and I got the moby wrap. Let me just tell you it is the best invention in the history of baby carriers. Now I know that all baby's are different and like different things but Meredith loves the Moby wrap. I love it too. It is so comfortable and soft. I love that I can be close to Meredith, she falls asleep the second I put her in it. You can also wear your baby tons of different ways. I think it is perfect. So if you are expecting or already have a little one and want a good carrier try the Moby wrap. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Baby Meredith

Okay Okay, I know that it has been forever since I updated the blog. Ever since Meredith has been born I get like 30 min a day where I can veg out and I don't feel like bloging. Being a mom is the best thing ever. Meredith is the best baby in the world and it is so much fun spending all day with her. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I guess I will start from the beginning.

Meredith was born on July 16th. A week late. On Wed the 15th I went to the doctor for my week late check up and I was so ready to have my baby. I begged the dr. to let me stay at the hospital but she said no and scheduled me for induction the next morning. I would have to arrive at 4:00am in the morning to start the induction. The doctor gave me something to help my induction along that day, it's called a "balloon" I guess, which is soppose to fall out after I am 4 cm along. Well on the way home I started have contractions but they weren't steady so I just wrote it off as false labor. Okay well, I got home ate dinner and was still having contractions so I got in the shower and they were five min apart and a min long so i called the hospital. Since the "balloon" thingy had fallen out the nurse said that I probably wasn't 4cm dialated and should stay home. The contractions kept getting more intense and and at 2:00 in the morning they were unbareable. I call the hospital again and they said that since the balloon hadn't fallen out not to come in but my contractions were 90 sec long and super close together. I got in a bath and was just feeling awful and physically sick. Finally 3:30 rolls around and we call in to make sure i can come in for my induction. Still having contractions by the way. Sean helps me get dressed and we finally get out of the house. That was hard. Well anyways, when we get to the hospital I find out that I cam 7 cm dialated and that the 'balloon' didn't fall out because it was stuck. Great huh. Well everything is really rushed after that. I don't even get to sign any consent forms or anything. I get my IV, I get an epidural, my water breaks, and it's time to push. Well five hours after getting to the hospital Meredith is born. She was 7 lbs 15 oz and 20 1/4 inches long. When Meredith came out we didn't know if she was a boy or a girl, and Sean yelled out "It's a Girl". I just started balling. She was so perfect and healthy. It was the best moment in the whole world. Sean was such a great coach. He was so supportive, especcially since I labored so much at home.

Coming home with Meredith and Sean was so wonderful. Sean stayed home with us for a week and then went back to work. I was really scared to be by myself but we worked it out. Meredith and I are finally in a routine. We go for two walks a day. We listen to music and sing. We dance. It is so much fun. She is even a good sleeper. I nurse her before we go to bed and she wakes up about four hours later. I nurse her every two to three hours after that. She is has so much personality. She is even starting to smile. I can't wait for her to learn more. Well that all for now. Meredith is awake and I need to comfort her. Sorry for the delay in the entry.

Baby, Shower, Graduation Oh MY!

I have decided that I am very bad at updating my blog. I am sorry. But now I am done with classes and just waiting for baby, so I will most likely have more time to update. Sean and I only have a few more weeks till the baby. We are so excited. The nursery is done, our bags are packed now all we needs is a baby. My mother and sister threw me a baby shower. It was so wonderful to see friends and family. Sean and I got mostly everything we needed. I was so excited with all the baby gifts I put everything away the moment I got home. I couldn't wait to wash all the clothes and blankets. I just hope the nursery stays as nice and neat as it is now. Probably not though. It has been a busy couple of weeks. Besides having a shower, I finished my student teaching and graduated with my music education teaching certificate. I am so glad to be done with school. Student teaching was a lot of fun and the faculty got me a wonderful baby present as a parting gift. I will really miss working at the school. It was hard teaching little kids and being pregnant. The kids were very cute about the baby but I was always concerned about getting sick.

Being pregnant has helped me realize the good and bad things to say to a pregnant person. Here are some thing that have been said to me, that I think should never be said to a pregnant person 1. Anything about how big you look. Duh I know I'm pregnant, you don't need to tell me I'm huge. And no, I'm not having twins. Actually, every time I go to the doctor to get measured they tell me I'm just right. I'm not too big, I'm not too small. Please just say I look great, that would be nice.

2. If I choose to tell you what names my husband and I like for my baby please do not say anything negative. It is not your child so why do you feel like you need to tell me if you hate the name or if you knew a such and such that was mean to you when you were in 3rd grade. Just listen and say that sounds like a nice name and take it as a compliment that I shared the information with you.

3. Please do not tell me any birthing horror stories. Do you really think that would make me feel better? It's different when my nurse or doctor are preparing me for labor but when someone on the street tells me about something horrible it just FREAKS me out.

Well those are my top three things to keep to your self. I just had to get that off my chest. I'm sure other pregnant people will agree with me. Other then those comments I have really enjoyed being pregnant. I'm sure, since I've had an easy pregnancy, everything from labor and on is going to be difficult. I guess only time will tell. I'm so glad I have a wonderful husband and family to help me through it all. Anyways, here are some pictures form the shower and graduation and the nursery.

Spring Time Here We Come! It's almost baby time.

Happy April! I am so happy that spring is on it's way, even though the weather isn't really agreeing with the season. Today it snowed, but melted very quickly and now it's sunny and beautiful outside. The baby is doing so well. The baby is very active and kicking like crazy. Now since the baby is bigger Sean can see the baby kick and it is so cool. Sometimes we have belly watches, where we just watch to see if the baby is moving. Usually the baby is shy and doesn't like to move when we watch. Also the baby doesn't like to move when my belly is bare, probably because it's cold or the light is getting in. I love to just sit or lie down and do nothing but feel the baby move. Baby really likes to lie on my right side and snuggle down. The pregnancy has been so easy so far, and hopefully I"m not speaking too soon. As the days go on it just gets harder to find comfortable positions to lie in. I just feel so blessed by this pregnancy and this little baby. I can't believe how much I love this little baby, and we haven't even met yet. This baby will be so loved. We've already recieved so many wonderful gifts, even from people I barely know. Some of my little dancers that I teach bought me some cute gifts and a girl from the high school I student teach at gave me a baby present as well. A few weeks ago my mom, Sean and I were out at Fred Meyer and we couldn't resist buying a bunch of cute baby clothes and blankets. They're all so tiny and cute, I can't wait to use them.Last weekend Sean and I bought the car seat and a snap and go stroller for the baby. The snap and go is a frame for the car seat. It is so light weight and really easy to use. We also want to get a jogging stroller for walks around the neighborhood and what not. The snap and go is for quick trips to the mall or going to church. The car seat has such soft fabric and we love the multi directional handle. It's super easy to use.
Sean and I are so pleased with how the nursey is coming along. The furniture that my mother and father and grandparent bought us is so beautiful and sturdy. We are so lucky that we got the crib we did, now that they have deemed the cribs with the moveable rail in the front unsafe for babies. My sister was so generous to let us use her glider rocking chair from her babies. It's really comfortable and I'm sure I'll get tons of use out of it. All we have to do now is hang the pictures on the wall. As soon as the baby is born and we know if the baby is a boy or a girl I want to have the baby's name in letters on the wall.

On a non-baby note Sean and I are dealing with car shopping right now. NOT FUN AT ALL. I know the salesmen mean well but it is very frustrating. We try to be very upfront with the salesmen about what we can afford but it doesn't seem to help. Hopefully this weekend we can walk away with a car we really like. I want Sean to be happy, since it will be his car. We want the car to have all the safety features and of course power locks and windows. That can't be too hard right? Well, we will have to see. If we do buy a new car I will be sure to post it. The Explorer has been a great car and Sean and I are actually sad to see it go. Sean has even joked about making a video montage about the car. Sean and I have been together so long, and I feel like we have so many memories that are paired with that car. Even though the transmission is dieing it would make me so happy if someone could fix it and enjoy the car. Maybe... It will be nice to have a nice new car for the baby. Well thats all for now. We have another doctors apt. on Friday April 10th and then our 32 week ultrasound May 11th, the day after mother's day. What a good mothers day gift.

Nursery

Sean and I have started to decorate the nursery. My wonderful grandparents bought us the most beautiful crib and the other day Sean put it together. Sean and my mom also painted the bedroom. The room is coming together so nicely. My mom and dad also picked out a new dresser/changer for the baby, I can't wait to see it. We still have to get a mattress for the crib but we do have the bedding. Since we want to wait until the baby is born to find out if baby is a boy or a girl the bedding is green with frogs and ducks, which I love. It's so soft too. The comforter is too heavy to actually use with the baby so we'll probably hang it over the rocking chair.

The baby has been moving around so much, which I love. Sean and I like to read and sing to the baby. The baby really likes music. The other night I had a jazz concert and the baby loved the music so much, baby was dancing around like crazy. I can't wait till I can see the baby move and that way Sean can see the baby too. It's a little hard for him to feel the baby kick right now. I just can't wait to see and hold our little baby. Each day that goes by is more special then the last. Sean loves to talk about baby names and we do have a few picked out. Sometimes I'm scared to share them since everyone has an opinion. For a girl we like Meredith, Charlotte and Abigail and for a boy we like Gavin, Thomas and David. There are many other names that we like but thats just a few from our list. The middle name will be Morgan no matter what, since thats my maiden name. Well thats it for now. Here's a picture of the bump and the baby. More to come soon.

Baby Update

Sean and I had our second trimester ultrasound the other day. It was so wonderful to see baby again. The ultrasound was 30 min long so we got to see baby for a long time, which I loved. Baby was moving around so much, almost dancing. We could see all the little fingers and toes and the baby was perfect. The doctor said that baby is growing great and everything is going to plan. We have posted the ultra sound video. Sean and I don't know if the baby is a boy or a girl, we want to be surprised in July. You can watch the video and see what you think but I don't know if you'll be able to tell. We are so excited to meet our little angel. 20 weeks down 20 weeks to go. We recieved a beautiful crib from my grandparents and I know Sean can't wait to put it together. My parents also bought us a beautiful bedding set with frogs and ducks on it, it is so cute and soft. I can't wait to use it. We will post pictures as soon as the nursery comes together. Thank you to everyone for all the congratulations. I also posted a picture of the baby bump, still growing.
